October 1st will be our first session and then will take place every fortnight. The Chatty Cafe Scheme is a leading non-profit organisation which helps to bring people together and get people chatting and making new friends. Our chatty table will be clearly signed in the refreshment area and will be hosted by one of our volunteers. Refreshments will be available.
Thursday, October 10th, 7.30-9.00pm. Our popular Long Buckby Ukulele Group will be back!
Come along for an evening of café style entertainment. This is a free event, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be available. Please book your place at the library beforehand as space is limited. Doors open at 7.00pm.
Monday 28th-Thursday 31st October: it’s Halloween Week and we are holding some Halloween events:
Tuesday 29th, 7.30 pm will be our monthly film: A Haunting in Venice. “In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer.” Doors open at 7pm. Refreshments available. Tickets £7 at the library or Peephole in the High Street.
Thursday 31st, 7.30-9.30pm, the well-known actor, James Hornsby, is back for a special Halloween performance of Dracula: a “spine-chilling adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic gothic-horror novel”. This is a one-man play where James “brings to life the cast of characters: Jonathan Harker, his beautiful fiancé Mina, Professor Abraham Van Helsing, the crazed insect-eating Renfield and, of course, The Transylvanian Count...”. Doors open at 7pm. Refreshments available. Tickets £10 at the library or Peephole in the High Street.
You can buy tickets for A Haunting in Venice and Dracula for the combined price of £15. Come to both events for a discount! Also do look out on our website for a 3-8 years children’s event on Monday 28th, 4-6pm.
Our film in November is on Tuesday 26th, 7.30, and is Fly Me to the Moon. “A sharp, stylish romantic comedy set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as a marketing maven wreaks havoc on the launch director’s already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, the countdown truly begins.” Doors open at 7pm. Refreshments available. Tickets £7 at the library or Peephole in the High Street.
