Deborah Sampson is delighted to announce that her son Matthew was married on September 9th to Alice Mary Meares.

Matthew of course grew up in Cold Ashby and his grandfather, Glanville Hart, still lives in Guilsborough. The wedding took place in the delightful village of Terling, Essex, where Alice grew up, and we were blessed with a lovely sunny day.

The refurbishment of the Multi Use Games Area at Cold Ashby Playing Fields has been completed. This is one of very few “artificial grass” carpet surface all-weather sports area with floodlighting and a rebound fence within Daventry District.

The carpet surface was rejuvenated earlier in the year. This involved a deep clean to remove any moss and dirt that had built up over the years to remove slippery areas and provide more grip generally. We also replaced the sand that supports the pile of the playing surface.

We have now installed a brand new perimeter rebound fence to complete the modernisation of this all-weather sports area.

Many thanks to all those who attended our Harvest Supper at the golf club on2nd October. As usual we enjoyed an excellent meal, followed by the entertaining auction of produce. The auction and the raffle raised £449.45 for church funds. So thanks also to those who donated the produce. We couldn't have an auction without you!!

On a different sunny day back in August, we have pictured left, Andrew Tinkler and his bride, Sophie Cotton.  Andrew originates from Yorkshire and Sophie from Northamptonshire, previously living in East Haddon. Now her parents live in Cold Ashby having moved here 8 years ago. Sophie and her husband live near Stratford but she comes home to Cold Ashby most weekends still!

Congratulations to both couples!
